The benefits of massage
A massage is an excellent form of relaxation, but did you know that it can also be used to help treat several different health conditions, and can even improve muscle tone and boost your immune system?
Research has shown that a massage can help relieve stress and anxiety, improve sleep and circulation, and can help reduce symptoms of various health conditions ranging from headaches to depression.
If any of this sounds appealing, please call me at the Recovery Room Hastings to discuss what kind of massage is right for you. Different massage techniques focus on different parts of the body, and some can deliver more benefits than others depending on what it is you need.
Having a regular massage is one of the best things you can do for your health and part of the point of getting a massage is to relax and let go, so you’ll likely leave your appointment feeling less tense and more rejuvenated.
About Me
Hi, my name is Lucy Culshaw, I moved to Hastings from London in 2003. Initially I worked at a local charity supporting autistic adults, then, after my daughter was born in 2006, I trained to be a secondary school teacher and advanced within education to be an Assistant Head Teacher and SENDCO. Moving on, in 2024 I retired from teaching. and was lucky enough to be able to re-train in massage. I had initially trained in 2000 but, even though I loved it, life got in the way).
And so, I caught the bug! I trained in as many massage modalities as I could fit into the day. Knowing that I was already nearly 60 (! how does that happen?!) I wanted to maximise my skills quickly, realising that I might not have as long as others to use them!
After completing multiple holistic courses, including the ITEC Level 3 Holistic Massage, I went on to complete an ITEC Level 3 Sports Massage course,
By this time, I was fascinated by the health benefits of massage. I completed rigourous training at the Lymphoedema Training Academy in Stafford to gain specialist skill in MLD which enables me to be able to be on the MLD-UK register. I have also completed specialist studies with RESTORE Scar Therapy and Advanced Pre- and Post- Operative MLD with the internationally renowned Aftercare Academy.
I am now fully qualified to a high standard in massage therapy and I am always looking at completing more courses in the future to keep me up to date and to provide a better service. If you ever have a treatment in mind that I don’t offer, then please do say – if I get enough interest in it I will certainly look into training for it. It’s great to be able to keep studying as you never stop learning in life.
I am a fully qualified and insured therapist, and a member of the STA (Sports Therapy Association) and a registered therapist on the Restore Scar Therapy and on the MLD-UK register.
